The said thirtieth day of August the aforesaid commissioners for and on his Majesty’s behalf by vertue of the said Commission and Thomas Hammond one of the Alderm en of the late Citty of Londonderry doe conclude and agree that the said Thomas Hammond and his assignes shall have and hold one peece or p[ar]cell of land without the Walls of the said late Citty neere Bishopps gate adioining to the highe way leading from the said late Citty towards Lifford uppon w[hi]ch five smale cabbins are built and now or late in the tenure or occupac[i]on of the said Thomas Hammond or his assignes and allsoe one p[ar]cell of wast ground adioining to the foresaid peece or p[ar]cell of land and allsoe all those severall p[ar]cells of land w[i]th th[e] appurten[a]nc[e]s w[i]thin the Island of Derry conteining by estimac[i]on two acres and eleaven p[er]ches Irishe measure lyeing to the west side of the highe way leading from the said late Citty to Lifford and bounding to lands now or late in the occupac[i]on of Charles Hawton or his assignes and to the Quarry neere the Gallowes and now or late in the severall tenures or occupac[i]ons of Isaacke Smith John ffrewen the said Thomas Hammond Peter Morgan Richard Jones Stephen Musgrand Patrick Richart , and John Hanford or some of them their or some of their assignes for the terme of one and twenty yeares from the ffeast of Th[e] an[n]unciac[i]on of the blessed virgin Mary now last past for and under the yearly rent of ffourty shillings sterling paiable to his ma[ies]tie his heires and successors into the receipt of his ma[ies]t[ie]s Excheq[uer] in England or unto the hands of the Receiver of his ma[ies]tie his heires and successors for the time being for the Reven[n]ue of Londonderry als[o] Derry and Colerane or either of them att the ffeasts of St Michaell Th[e] archangell and Th[e] an[n]unciac[i]on of the blessed virgin Mary by equall porc[i]ons uppon condic[i]on that the said terme shall cease and be void if the said rent or anie p[ar]t thereof shal[l] be behind and unpaid by the space of ffifty dayes next after anie of the said ffeasts or daies of paim[en]t aforesaid And the said Thomas Hammond or his assignes shall att his and their their prop[er] costs and chardges within seaven yeares now next comeing erect and build and fully finishe uppon the p[re]misses fower sufficient dwelling houses of timber stone or bricke after the manner of Englishe houses every of the said houses to be two storyes highe att the least and to conteine fower roomes att the least and that the said Thomas Hammond or some other able and sufficient ten[a]nt with his family shall from time to time after the building thereof during the residue of the said terme of one and twenty yeares be resident and inhabitant in and uppon every of the said houses and grind att such mill or mills as his ma[ies]tie hath or as he his heires and successors shall erect or build within the foresaid late Citty or the lib[er]ties thereof all his and their mault corne and graine w[hi]ch he or they shall expend or use uppon the p[re]misses or being ground shall sell to anie p[er]son or p[er]sons and pay for grinding thereof to the Miller of the said mill or mills for the time being the sixteenth p[ar]t of of all the said mault corne and graine and shall keepe and mainteyne the aforesaid house after the building thereof and other the p[re]misses in good and sufficient reparac[i]ons and inclosures during the said terme And that the said Thomas Hammond and his assignes shall during the said terme have and keepe in readines uppon the p[re]misses for [th]e service of his ma[ies]tie his heires and successors one pike and corslett furnished in such manner as the same shal[l] be allowed of by the mustermaster of the place where the p[re]misses are for the time being and that his ma[ies]tie wil[l] be gratiously placed to confirme this agreem[en]t by his l[ett]res patents under the great Seale of England and that the said Thomas shall coven[a]nt thereby for himselfe his heires executors administrators and assignes to p[er]forme what is hereby on his p[ar]t In witnes whereof the said Commissioners and the said Thomas Hammond have putt to their hands the day and yeare abovewritten:

The said thirtieth day of August the aforesaid commissioners for and on his Majesty’s behalf by virtue of the said commission and James Vaughan gentleman one of the Aldermen of the late city of Londonderry
The said thirtieth day of August, the aforesaid commissioners for and on His Majesty’s behalf by virtue of the said commission, and Thomas Hammond, one of the Aldermen of the late city of Londonderry, do conclude and agree that the said Thomas Hammond and his assigns shall have and hold one piece or parcel of land without the walls of the said late city, near Bishopsgate, adjoining to the highway leading from the said late city towards Lifford, upon which five small cabins are built and now or late in the tenure or occupation of the said Thomas Hammond or his assigns, and also one parcel of waste ground adjoining to the foresaid piece or parcel of land, and also all those several parcels of land with the appurtenances within the Island of Derry containing by estimation two acres and eleven perches Irish measure, lying to the west side of the highway leading from the said late city to Lifford and bounding to lands now or late in the occupation of Charles Hawton or his assigns and to the quarry near the gallows, and now or late in the several tenures or occupations of Isaac Smith, John Frewen, the said Thomas Hammond, Peter Morgan, Richard Jones, Stephen Musgrand, Patrick Richard, and John Hanford, or some of them, their, or some of their assigns for the term of one and twenty years from the feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary now last past, for and under the yearly rent of forty shillings sterling payable to His Majesty, his heirs and successors into the receipt of His Majesty’s Exchequer in England, or unto the hands of the Receiver of His Majesty, his heirs and successors for the time being for the revenue of Londonderry, also Derry, and Coleraine or either of them at the feasts of St Michael the Archangel and the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary by equal portions, upon condition that the said term shall cease and be void if the said rent or any part thereof shall be behind and unpaid by the space of fifty days next after any of the said feasts or days of payment aforesaid. And the said Thomas Hammond or his assigns shall at his and their proper costs and charges within seven years now next coming, erect and build and fully finish upon the premises four sufficient dwelling houses of timber, stone, or brick after the manner of English houses, every of the said houses to be two stories high at the least and to contain four rooms at the least, and that the said Thomas Hammond or some other able and sufficient tenant with his family shall, from time to time after the building thereof, during the residue of the said term of one and twenty years be resident and inhabitant in and upon every of the said houses and grind at such mill or mills as His Majesty hath, or as he, his heirs and successors shall erect or build within the foresaid late city or the Liberties thereof, all his and their malt, corn, and grain which he or they shall expend or use upon the premises, or being ground shall sell to any person or persons and pay for grinding thereof to the miller of the said mill or mills, for the time being the sixteenth part of all the said malt, corn, and grain, and shall keep and maintain the aforesaid house, after the building thereof, and other the premises in good and sufficient reparations and enclosures during the said term. And that the said Thomas Hammond and his assigns shall during the said term have and keep in readiness upon the premises for the service of His Majesty, his heirs and successors one pike and corslet furnished in such manner as the same shall be allowed of by the Muster Master of the place where the premises are for the time being, and that His Majesty will be graciously placed to confirm this agreement by his letters patent under the Great Seal of England, and that the said Thomas shall covenant thereby for himself, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns to perform what is hereby on his part. In witness whereof the said commissioners and the said Thomas Hammond have put to their hands the day and year abovewritten:
